I had a nightmare last night I had a nightmare last night

So my wife is pregnant and having all kinds of weird dreams lately. It must be somehow contagious because last night I legit had a dream I was trying to build a stanced GTI for a car show. Terrifying, right?

Adventures in product photography Adventures in product photography

I’ve got probably 2/3rds of my Ireland photos edited and my 5 rolls of b&w developed and scanned. I’ll be sending the last 3 rolls of color film off to the lab next week and will probably be posting my favorite shots from the trip shortly after.

Bad parking, office window edition Bad parking, office window edition

Saw this outside the kitchen window at my office and had to stop and take a photo. They are both pretty far from the curb, with the Fiat being at least 4 feet away. The front bumper of the Jeep is solidly touching the back of the Fiat. There are no cars within at least 5 or 6 feet of either side.

All packed for Ireland, plus my first ever Astro shot All packed for Ireland, plus my first ever Astro shot

Tomorrow my wife and I leave for a week in Ireland, our second time there in as many years. We had such a fun time there on our honeymoon and tickets were so cheap we decided we had to go back. Not only that, but my prints from our last time there have been selling pretty well so my wife told me to treat this like a…

That time 100 prewar Bugattis came to upstate NY for a drive That time 100 prewar Bugattis came to upstate NY for a drive

Saratoga Springs, New York is a town with racing in its blood. Every summer people come from all over to visit the track and see the races. Carly Simon even mentioned it in a song, and just like the protagonist in her hit “You’re so vain” rich folk in Learjets do regularly stop here before jetting off to other parts…

So there is a prewar Bugatti rally in my town this week? So there is a prewar Bugatti rally in my town this week?

File under cool automotive things happening under my nose I didn’t know about: The American Bugatti Club is hosting its annual rally in my hometown of Saratoga NY this week.

Trying my hand at rollers & panning shots Trying my hand at rollers & panning shots

I’ve taken a lot of photos in my lifetime and so far they all seem to fall into 2 categories: high speed/freeze the action shots and 30+ second long exposures. The 1 second - 1/15th range of shutter speeds might as well have been missing from my cameras.

Americade in 3 hours - Photo Dump Americade in 3 hours - Photo Dump

This last weekend was the annual Americade bike rally in Lake George NY. Most people ride up on Tuesday or so and head home on Sunday making it an almost week long affair. I’ve never attended in that capacity, but then I live 45 minutes away so I’ll usually ride up one evening and just walk around looking at bikes for…

Darkroom update - better prints and first real 4x5 portrait Darkroom update - better prints and first real 4x5 portrait

Hey everybody! I hope your photography adventures are going great. I’ve been having some fun in the darkroom lately and figured I would share.

New house means darkroom - and first ever prints New house means darkroom - and first ever prints

Hey everyone! I haven’t posted anything in a little while and it’s been for good reason - my wife and I closed on our first and moved in over the last month. One of the reasons we were so excited about the house is it would give us each a room for our hobbies, of which we both have many. This meant a photography room…

Oppo hivemind, Yaris opinions? Oppo hivemind, Yaris opinions?

Did my taxes last night and realized I’ll be getting a good deal more back than I had expected. My wife and I had been talking about getting another small fuel sipping car to use for commuting/errands, and now we can make that a reality. I love my stage 2 outback XT, but my wife is a little less fond of its 19mpg on…

RIP Crank Pulley RIP Crank Pulley

I love my Subaru (so much so that I signed up for their Subaru Ambassador program several months ago on a whim and recently found out I got in. Free swag incoming!). Like any good relationship though there are sometimes things that come up along the way and require some time and effort to make right. I suppose also…

Photog goals for 2018 Photog goals for 2018

Hey everybody! I’m excited to have found and been welcomed into this little corner of the Kinjaverse. Given the new year and the fact that I’m packing to move into my first house with actual space for a studio and darkroom I started thinking about photos that I want to try taking over the next year. The subjects are…

Photography best of 2017 Photography best of 2017

My personal favorite photographs I took over the last year. I recently learned there is a photography sub-blog on here but as I’m not yet added to it I suppose I’ll be spamming you all. I promise there are a few cars in here though...

Winter Mode 85% Achieved Winter Mode 85% Achieved

Despite a busier than expected Thanksgiving weekend I was able to pick up my new snows and mount them and then build the light bar I mocked up the other day.

Building a light bar for the XT, AMA Building a light bar for the XT, AMA

I had a light bar on my Saabaru and loved it for my rural winter commutes in the dark.. It worked wonders for seeing and avoiding deer, right up until the day the fuse blew and I hit a deer at 55mph. After getting a new car (the XT) I promptly ordered the same setup, a set of Hella 500 driving lights and a set of…

I made a thing that includes film photos of cars I made a thing that includes film photos of cars

I take lots of photos for fun, and over the last 2 years I’ve gotten back into film photography. While I also take plenty of digital photos and can certainly appreciate the advances in technology, the freedom and relaxation of looking through a real glass viewfinder, composing in the camera, and developing the film at…

The Rallywagon is about to get MOAR SPEED The Rallywagon is about to get MOAR SPEED

Well I finally pushed “buy” on a bunch of parts today that will hopefully take my Outback XT a step up. I’ve worked on and modded all 6 cars I’ve owned so far, but have never made any real power related mods. That ends now.

Mt. Washington gets faster, apparently Mt. Washington gets faster, apparently

I heard mixed things about the dirt section at Mt. Washington being paved while attending the last Climb to the Clouds, but the auto road facebook page just posted a video proving paving is in the works.
